Area Road Updates
A recent newsletter from
"Charlotte Engineering & Property Management" answers some popular questions
about area roads.
-
What happened to the
proposed roundabout at DeArmon and Prosperity Church Road?
The delay of the leg of I-485 in this
area and the construction of the Prosperity Village Plan affects the
amount of traffic at DeArmon Road. City Staff determined that the
roundabout would fail under the anticipated traffic flows between now and
2012, the scheduled opening of I-485. Consequently, the traffic light
was installed. The roundabout is still proposed and the Right of Way
for the roundabout has been purchased.
-
Why was there no
continuation of the four lanes heading west on Prosperity Church Road, but
rather two lanes with a small left turn lane onto DeArmon Road?
Prosperity Church Road was not
proposed to be widened to four lanes in this area because the three legs of
the Prosperity Village Plan (Prosperity Church Road, Loganville Drive, and
Prosperity Village Road) will account for three separate north/south travel
legs across I-485 before they intersect with Prosperity Church Road, south
of Eastfield Road.
-
A traffic light is
desperately needed at the Browne/Eastfield Road and Eastfield/Old
Statesville Road (NC115) intersections. When will that happen?
Staff from the Charlotte Department of
Transportation (CDOT) will be evaluating the Browne/Eastfield Road
intersection to see if a traffic light is warranted at this location.
CDOT evaluates intersections every two years within the Charlotte City
limits. The intersection of Eastfield/Old Statesville Road (NC115)
will be evaluated again next year.
