3/22/10 - Neighborhood Fire!
HIGH FIRE DANGER
Dormant Bermuda grass posses a very serious fire danger!
Residents should not use equipment near grassed areas that produce flame during the winter season.  This includes charcoal grills and outdoor fryers.  Grills of any type, even propane grills,  should be on concrete or stone and not near grassed areas.
Bermuda grass fires are very difficult to control since they spread rapidly. Please use care to prevent injury to our neighbors and property.

3/28/09 - Attempted Break-in!

On Wednesday, March 25th, there was a 911 call regarding a prowler in Dominion Glen.  Two or three individuals rang the doorbell of a home and attempted to gain entry into the house.  The homeowner made the individuals aware that they were home, did not open the door and called 911.

The female involved in this incident was intoxicated and confused; she got a ride to Highland Creek from two strangers and believed that she lived in the neighborhood.

The homeowners in this case did the right thing and called the police. Please take this opportunity to remind all members of your household to:

1) NEVER open the door to people you do not know.

2) Call 911 immediately.

3) Always let people that come to your door know that you are home and that you have called the police.

4) Call Highland Creek Security @ 704-609-0569, after you have called 911.

3/3/09 - Below are some safety tips to keep in mind, as the weather gets warmer.

 Safety for your home:

  1. Keep your garage doors closed.  This includes when you are working in the yard and can’t see the entrance to your garage.

  2. Keep your shrubs trimmed around doors and windows.

  3. Leave exterior lights on at night, in the front and back of your home, or consider installing motion sensors on your exterior lights.

  4. Close and lock your windows when you leave the house.

  5. If you have a security system, be sure that you know how to operate it properly and that it is registered.

  6. If you park your car in the driveway, make sure that you lock the doors and remove everything from the interior.  This includes the remote to the garage door, GPS, GPS holder, cell phone, cell phone charger, iPod, laptop, loose change, etc.

 Neighborhood Safety:

  1. If you see something suspicious call 911 immediately.  When you hang up, call Highland Creek Security @ 704-609-0569

  2. If someone you don’t know rings your doorbell, let them know through the locked door, that you are home and that they need to leave your property.  Do not ignore the doorbell and hope that they go away.  Bring your phone with you to the door and call 911 immediately.  Try to get a good description of the person and the vehicle.

  3. Get to know your neighbors and what kind of cars they own.  If you see a person or vehicle that doesn’t belong in your neighborhood, call 911.

  4. Always carry your cell phone with you when you leave the house.

If something doesn’t seem right, it probably isn’t.  An officer would rather respond to a 911 call and have it be nothing, than arrive at a crime scene where people saw something suspicious and didn’t call the police.
